JAISALMER: A 13-yer-old girl drowned in a pond while making her cattle drink in Barmer on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Laxmi. In another incident, a cleaner died and driver seriously injured in an accident between a trailer and a truck.
In the first incident in the Baytu police station area at Dholader village, a girl drowned in a pond. She slipped into the pond while making her cattle drink. The family members immediately fished her out and brought to the district hospital where she was declared dead.
According to Baytu police Vagtaram of Dholader village gave a report that Laxmi was making her cattle drink water when she slipped into it and drowned. On hearing her cries, the family members reached the spot and fished her out and brought her to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead. The body has been kept at the mortuary, police said.
According to the head constable, a case has been registered and body was handed over to the family members after the post-mortem. Police have started the investigation.
In another incident, a trailer coming from Sanchore to Balotara on the mega highway in Barmer lost control and hit a truck parked at Ramji ki Gol petrol pump. The cleaner in the trailer died on the spot while the driver was seriously injured. Police reached the spot and seized both vehicles and started the investigation.
According to police, a truck full of sacks was being parked near Ramji ka Gol petrol pump. On Tuesday at around 9am, a trailer to save a cattle that came in front of it hit the parked truck. People nearby took the driver and cleaner out of the trailer and took them to Sanchore Hospital. Doctors declared the cleaner Punamchand 46, a resident of Bikaner district dead while driver Ramnivas is undergoing treatment.
According to Ramji ki Gol police check post in charge Jai Kishan, the cleaner died and driver was seriously injured. The body was handed over to the family members after the post-mortem. The police are investigating the case.
