Security of witnesses in Atiq cases being reviewed

Prayagraj: Following the sensational killing of Umesh Pal, the prime witness in BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case and one of his gunner in Friday shootout incident, senior police authorities are reviewing the security cover for the persons who have either lodged cases against mafia turned politician Atiq Ahmed or those who turned witness in many cases .
Highly placed sources in police department told TOI that senior police authorities have drawn out a fresh list of persons - who had either lodged cases against Atiq Ahmed regarding extortion, land grabbing, and other offences and reviewed whether they have been allotted security guard or police gunner, if any.
Senior cops were looking into the senstivity of all such cases and chalking out plans to provide extra security cover accordingly. The senior cops have also prepared a list of those persons who had turned witnesses in cases being run against the mafia turned politician Atiq Ahmed and his henchmen.
In the same regard, wife of slain Raju Pal and currently SP MLA from Chail assembly constituency in Kaushambi district, Puja Pal had already demanded Y plus security cover from the state government. She had also demanded that additional security cover to be provided to other key witnesses in connection with Raju Pal Murder case.
