The Boston Red Sox traded reliever Matt Barnes for left-handed pitcher Richard Bleier. Barnes has spent his entire nine-year career in Boston. It was tough for Barnes as he had never imagined playing in a different uniform.

When asked about the trade, he mentioned that he had no hard feelings towards the club. They treated him well during his time there, but he may have fired a shot at Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom.

New Marlins reliever Matt Barnes: “I’m not mad and I don’t have any animosity toward the Red Sox organization because that organization represents so much more than who’s currently running it. The people at the top were so great to me.”

Bloom's been on the hot seat for the last couple of years. He took major heat in the offseason when Xander Bogaerts signed with the San Diego Padres. It didn't get much better when fans learned they would be without Trevor Story for much of this season.

Fans have been calling for Bloom's job for a while now. If the Red Sox have a disastrous season this year, it may be his last.

"So another Chaim hater... tell him to get in line!" one fan tweeted.
@PeteAbe So another Chaim hater…tell him to get in line!
"Ouch. Nice dagger thrown by Matt toward Bloom The Clueless One," another fan tweeted.
@PeteAbe Ouch. Nice dagger thrown by Matt toward Bloom The Clueless One.
@PeteAbe Hey @mattbarnesRHP, all of Boston agrees that Chaim has no idea what he’s doing.
@PeteAbe Matt at one time gave us all he had and it turned out to Be good. A few down times, but he got that deserved contract extension. So now he moves onto another market and I wish him success. As far as our GM is concerned he’s ruining this franchise with various moves. FIRE HIM

Some fans agree with Barnes. They don't like the direction the team has gone with Chaim Bloom at the wheel.

@PeteAbe He should LOVE Bloom. He gave him that horrible extension. He’ll never see that kind of money again.
@PeteAbe Time for a change.Move on.He lost his mojo.Maybe he'll find it in Miami....?Bye
Brudda finessed an extension out of Bloom and now is crying twitter.com/peteabe/status…
Tell me you're not over the breakup without saying you're not over the breakup. Nothing says "I'm not mad" like multiple statements saying as much, I'm married, I know exactly what "I'm not mad" means. He sucked as soon as he signed that extension and hasn't been the same. Bye. twitter.com/PeteAbe/status…

Other fans are happy to see Matt Barnes go. They didn't think he was a big part of their organization. They also don't like him taking shots at a guy who gave him a two-year extension in 2021.

It may be a rough year for the Boston Red Sox

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees

There's not much hope for the Boston Red Sox this season. For one, they play in one of the toughest divisions in baseball in the American League East. They have to compete with the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays all year.

The Yankees and Blue Jays look like serious contenders this season. You can also never count out the Rays. No matter how insignificant their lineup seems, they always come out and play hard.

It will be interesting to follow the Red Sox this season. Enrique Hernandez is expected to be the team's everyday shortstop with Story on the IL. He has some experience at the position, but not a lot.

Rafael Devers will be the one bright spot on this team fans can get excited about. He signed a 10-year, $313.5 million contract in January. He'll have to carry the team on his back if they want to make some noise this year.
