Actor Darshan’s supporter booked
Mysuru: Actor Darshan’s supporter has been booked for assaulting a city-based businessman at a restaurant. Hebbal police have filed a case of assault and wrongful restraint against an unnamed accused. It is said that Darshan was present when the incident took place. R Yashavanth Kumar, a resident of Bogadi, told police that the incident happened in the early hours of February 26. He was at a restaurant in Hebbal Industrial area to celebrate his wife’s birthday late on February 25. Darshan and his associates too had come to the restaurant where a DJ was playing music. Yashavanth said he requested the DJ to play Puneeth Rajkumar’s song around 00.30am and the DJ said he would play it after two songs. Even before the complainant could return to his table, an associate from Darshan’s group held his collar and assaulted him, saying only ‘D Boss’ songs would be played, the complaint states.

Mysuru: Sam Cherian, managing director, Schevaran Laboratories Pvt Ltd, is nominated as chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mysuru zone for 2023-24 during the annual CII meeting. Eswara Rao, vice-president (works), JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, will be the vice-chairman of Mysuru zone. Arjun Ranga, chairman, CII Karnataka, announced new office bearers of CII Mysuru zone during the meeting. Cherian is a first generation entrepreneur and has set up an industry for manufacturing cleaning and hygiene products in Mysuru. Eswara Rao, a BE - Mech and MBA graduate, has technical expertise of over 27 years in operation management of industries. He has worked in various states of India in a diversified domain of manufacturing sector, said Solomon Pushparaj, head, CII Mysuru zone.
Those supporting Tipu will be sent home: Minister
Mandya: Those who support Mysuru ruler Tipu Sultan will be sent home by the Karnataka voters, said minister CN Aswath Narayan on Tuesday. Referring to JD(S) state president CM Ibrahim's support of Tipu, he said the former Union minister is destroying JD(S). “Voters will send him home if he gives statements in support of Tipu. During the elections, voters will choose between Tipu and Mysuru maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar,” he added. He accused Congress leaders of trying to take advantage of former CM BS Yeddiyurappa’s retirement from electoral politics. “He is still working to bring BJP back to power. He has made it clear that he will not take political retirement. But Congress leaders are trying to mislead people,” he said.

Mysuru: Mysuru-based SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Wellness Centre, SPARSH and Women Empowerment Forum in association with Rotary Club of Mysore West and Inner Wheel Club of Mysore West – District 318 had organised a workshop on ‘Anaemia Free India’ and an interaction programme on ‘DHEERA – Violence against women’. The resource person A Sonia Mandappa, chairperson, Safe Motherhood Committee, KSOGA, briefed on the services provided by the government to make the country ‘Anaemia Mukth Bharth’, which is the social responsibility of every doctor. She launched the programme DHEERA. About 150 students attended the programme. Mysuru: Breakthrough Science Society had organised a series of programmes to mark National Science Day at Kukkarahalli High School on Tuesday. The professionals interacted with the students and also discussed developing scientific temperament. An oath was administered to the students. Vokkaliga meeting
Mandya: Congress leaders belonging to Vokkaliga community on Tuesday held a meeting in Mandya district to consolidate the community’s votes. More than a thousand leaders from the seven taluks of Mandya district were present at the closed-door meeting, which was led by KPCC vice president N Chaluvarayaswamy. Speaking to reporters, he said they discussed strategies to elect more Vokkaliga MLAs from the party. The leaders suggested that they should stand in support of KPCC chief DK Shivakumar, he added. “The Congress will face the election under the leadership of AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, opposition leader Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. The meeting did not focus on promoting Shivakumar,” he said, adding that the party high command will decide the next chief minister.
