HYDERABAD: An intermediate student studying at a prominent private college in Narsingi died by hanging himself inside a classroom at his college on Tuesday night, allegedly due to the torture of his college staff.
Following the death of first year intermediate student N Sathvik (16) at 10 pm on Tuesday, tension prevailed at Sri Chaitanya Kalasala college premises and it continued till Wednesday morning, with deceased's parents, relatives and student organisations staging protest by blocking the road demanding punishment for the staff, who are responsible for his death.
Parents of Sathvik alleged that the college staff allegedly did not bother to inform them about the death of Sathvik. His parents and other students specifically alleged that Principal Acharya, Krishna Reddy and others used to torture the students.
"It was due to the torture of the staff, my brother Sathvik committed suicide," Sathvik brother Nitin told media.
His father also confirmed the same and claimed that in the past he spoke to the college principal about the torture committed by their staff against Sathvik. But still it allegedly continued.
On Tuesday late night, Narsingi police registered a criminal case. Following the death, few videos purportedly related to this college came to light, where it showed corporal harassment.
"Due to the pressure exerted to perform in studies, he was tortured. It was due to this, he has been under depression and used to stay away,'' Shanmukh, friend of Sathvik told media.
