JALANDHAR: An Army jawan has alleged that he was thrown out of a moving train at Tanda while travelling from Ambala to Jammu by three unidentified persons in the small hours of Tuesday when he tried to stop them from taking away his bag.
He was taken to Tanda Civil Hospital at around 4 am by some persons from whom he sought help after reaching the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway, which is also close to the railway track. The jawan, Sachin Sharma, who is in his mid-twenties and belongs to Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh, said he saw three people moving in the coach touching others' luggage.
"I suspected that they could be up to some mischief and was on my guard. When they pulled my bag away, I opposed them, but they snatched it and threw me out of the train," he said.
He somehow managed to walk to the road. The injured jawan was later shifted to Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur and then to Army Hospital, Chandigarh. Government Railway Police ASI Amritpal Singh said when he visited the injured jawan in the morning, he was not fit to record his statement and was unclear about some details.
"He could only tell that he remained unconscious for some time and somehow managed to walk to the NH, from where he sought help from some passerby who dropped him at Tanda Civil Hospital, " he said. "We have started an investigation in the case and shall record his statement once he is better."
