Stock market update: Nifty Auto index advances 0.92%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index closed on a positive note on Wednesday.

Shares of Sona BLW Precision Forgings(up 2.64 per cent), Samvardhana Motherson International(up 2.2 per cent), Bajaj Auto(up 1.92 per cent), Balkrishna Industries(up 1.82 per cent) and Bosch(up 1.7 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, TVS Motor Company(down 1.61 per cent) and Ashok Leyland(down 1.07 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty Auto index closed 0.92 per cent up at 12849.3.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended up 146.95 points at 17450.9, while the BSE Sensex stood up 448.96 points at 59411.08.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 43 ended in the green, while 7 closed in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Tata Steel, Suzlon Energy and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Aarti Surfactants(PP), Manav Infra Projects, Triveni Turbine, Sonata Software and Foseco India hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Ameya Precision Engineers Ltd., Shanti Overseas(Ind, CLC Industries, Goenka Diamond and Indiabulls Enterprises Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
