Expedite development works: Byrathi Basavaraj

MANGALURU: Byrathi Basavaraj, minister of urban development, directed officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to utilise funds meant for development works efficiently, and complete all projects on time.
Chairing an official meeting on Tuesday, the minister said that beneficiaries under various government schemes should get benefits without delay. "Funds sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission, Nagarothana, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), SFC Grants and other schemes should be utilised properly. No work should remain pending after the deadline," he said.
The minister directed officials of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to give emphasis to solid waste management in the city limits. "Waste management should not be affected in Mangaluru at any cost, and more emphasis should be given to the beautification of the city. Officials should make preparations to ensure uninterrupted water supply during summer. Ensure that streetlights in the city are functional," he said. Market complexes constructed at Surathkal, Kadri and Kankanady should be opened within 10 days, he added.
