Umesh Pal murder case: 'Assailants might have been in touch via Whatsapp, calls'

PRAYAGRAJ: Acknowledging the fact that conspirators and professional shooters involved in the Umesh Pal murder case were in touch via WhatsApp chat and calling, teams of district police and STF are compiling electronic and other evidence to tighten the noose around them.
Police have claimed that Sadaqat Khan, who was on Monday arrested by a STF team, has spilled the beans about the entire conspiracy. Police are now busy connecting all links related to the sensational killings.
Police are scanning CCTV footage and are compiling clues regarding the escape route of the assailants as well as the number of vehicles used by them while executing the crime. Besides, senior police and STF officials are reviewing the status report of the case and chalking out plans to zero in on the suspects.
A senior police officer told TOI: "Raids are being carried out on possible hideouts of the conspirators and professional criminals involved in the case across the country. Police have been working upon leads in the matter after taking the activities of Atiq gang members and supporters under scanner. Till now, police have detained more than two dozen persons."
Unconfirmed reports said Atiq's two sons have been detained for quizzing. While a 24-year-old youth Arbaaz, an accused in twin murders, was gunned down by the police in an exchange of fire near Nehru Park under the limits of Dhoomanganj police station on Monday, 27-year-old youth Sadaqat was also arrested by the STF.
Arbaaz was driving the SUV in the attack on Umesh Pal and helped the assailants escape from the site. Police are also making efforts to enlist the number of total persons involved in the killing and hatching the conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal.
