Investigation into 'reckless driver' complaint leads to shooting in Canandaigua. What we know now
More details are expected emerge later today, but an investigation is continuing into a shooting Tuesday night in the city of Canandaigua after an incident in East Bloomfield.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, sheriff's deputies and Canandaigua police officers attempted to investigate a "reckless driver type" complaint shortly after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The encounter led to a shooting in the city, deputies said. No details were provided on who fired a shot or shots, although deputies said no officers or members of the public were injured.
The Sheriff's Office is expected to provide more details at a briefing at 1 p.m. today. Ontario County Sheriff David Cirencione said he will not comment until the briefing.
