Student murdered in Dhanbad, 2 arrested

DHANBAD: A 15-year-old student was murdered near Gunghusa under the Topchanchi police station of the district on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Aditya Kumar Mandal, a Class-IX student of a local private school.
The father of the deceased, Sudam Mandal, said, “Aditya had gone for his tuition classes and returned home at about 6 pm. One of our neighbours, Vishnu Mandal (19), invited Aditya to have 'chowmein' at a nearby eatery. I scolded him and asked my son not to go as his exams were near. However, he (Mandal) again called on the phone after half an hour and my son went to have snacks with him. At about 8.30 pm, I was informed that my son was lying unconscious under the Rail over Bridge. I found him dead with his head badly crushed by a stone.” Police personnel from Topchanchi and Hariharpur went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
Deputy superintendent of police Nisha Murmu said, “Two youths, including Vishnu, have been nabbed from a private hospital at Katras. We are interrogating them. It’s a clear-cut case of murder but the motive is yet to be ascertained.”
