Our top picks for March
After receiving noteworthy acclaim for his performance in Apple TV+’s Black Bird, Taron Egerton returns to our smart TVs and streaming devices in Tetris, an Apple TV+ biopic. Directed by Jon S. Baird from a script by Noah Pink, Egerton plays Henk Rogers, the Dutch video game magnate responsible for bringing the iconic 8-bit shapes-and-colors game to at-home entertainment consoles. But like any major movement in the tech industry, Tetris’ distribution didn’t come easily, with Rogers facing many a legal hurdle along the way. A film about legacy that is said to be cut from the same narrative cloth as something like David Fincher’s The Social Network, Tetris premieres March 31.
Over the last few years, Ted Lasso has rocketed into the much-lauded “fan favorite” position for many Apple TV+ subscribers. After much critical acclaim and high viewer turnout, the powers that be are giving us an all-new season of the Jason Sudeikis comedy series starting March 15, with one new episode (season 3 consists of 12 episodes) premiering each week. The show’s third run finds the titular coach (played by Sudeikis) juggling soccer coaching and a host of personal struggles, as British football’s behind-the-scenes bureaucracy gets rattled and realigned.
An episodic adaptation of the M.O. Walsh novel of the same name, The Big Door Prize is a comedy series about the sudden emergence of a mysterious “clairvoyance” machine at a grocery store that is able to predict the destinies of those it comes into contact with. This leads to drastic life changes for the small fictional community of Deerfield. It stars Chris O’ Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, and Damon Gupton, The first three episodes premiere on March 29, with one new episode dropping on Apple TV+ each week and the first season concluding on May 10.

Looking ahead on Apple TV+
Apple TV+ continues to grow and expand, with plenty of new titles coming soon. Winter 2023 sees the release of a handful of new titles, including a new film called Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie (release date TBA), which is an in-depth examination of the life and times of the celebrated actor, covering his rise to film and TV stardom, and shedding newfound light on Fox’s Parkinson’s diagnosis at age 29.
Then there’s Killers of the Flower Moon (May 2023), a Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation that has long been in the works. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro in leading roles, the film follows a series of murders that were carried out against the members of a wealthy Native American tribe in Oklahoma in the 1920s.
