Unidentified persons booked for killing hyena

Daltonganj: An adult male hyena was found dead in Kundri forest under Medinirai forest division in Palamu district.
Santosh Rawani, a local animal husbandry officer of Panki block, who performed the autopsy said, “There was no firearm injury on the body of the hyena. It had injuries caused by a wire where it must have got entrapped. It died of cardio respiratory failure. Samples of heart, kidney, lungs, spleen, liver etc have been preserved and given to Kundri ranger Sanjiv Chowdhury for further examination at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.”
Chowdhury said some unidentified people had laid a trap at Jholha Bigha beat in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
“The hyena walked into the trap. The noose got around its neck. We have registered a case against unknown people,” he said.
