Raj HC notice on lawyers court boycott

Jaipur: The HC on Tuesday issued a notice to the Bar Council of Rajasthan and the High Court Bar Association taking suo motu cognisance of the lawyers’ boycott of courts. The replies have to be filed by March 2.
Lawyers have been boycotting courts since February 19 seeking the advocates’ protection Act. Advocate General Mahendra Singhvi said he and other additional advocate generals were obstructed from appearing in courts. He said the president of the Lawyers’ Association, Jodhpur, has issued a derogatory letter to him. Singhvi said he will follow the law and expressed apprehension that he might be expelled from the Bar. tnn
