Congress's Manikrao Thakre and Uttam Reddy launch 'Haath se Haath Jodo' yatra in Telangana's Kodad
The campaign will be conducted in all the 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana, Congress leaders said.
HYDERABAD: All India Congress Committee in-charge Manikrao Thakre along with Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy launched the 'Haath Se Haath Jodo' door-to-door campaign in Kodad assembly constituency of Suryapet district on Wednesday.
The campaign will be conducted in all the 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana.
The Congress leaders will meet every family in the constituency and explain how the Narendra Modi and KCR governments respectively have let down the people of the country.
The prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed, LPG, diesel and petrol prices are increasing, unemployment rate is at its highest in recent past, 2-BHK units have not been given and several other promises made by them have not been implemented, said Thakre.
Uttam ridiculed BRS leaders for calling Telangana a model state. Though Telangana had the potential to become the most prosperous and economically strong state in the country, CM KCR has ruined the prospects and turned it into a debt-ridden state, he said.
"In the last eight years, Telangana has accumulated a debt of over Rs 5 lakh crore neglecting the long-term implications. Even after such an extensive borrowing, not a single welfare scheme has covered all the eligible candidates. KCR has pushed the state into a financial mess,” alleged Uttam Reddy.
Nearly 40 lakh candidates are jobless in Telangana. The BRS-government failed to provide jobs or honour its promise of giving an unemployment allowance of Rs 3,016 to the jobless youth. Also, of the 22 lakh homeless families, not even 22,000 have been allotted 2-BHK houses, he alleged.
“The BJP and BRS have a secret alliance and have jointly conspired to project Congress as a weakening party. Their effort will fail as the Congress party has a strong presence in all 34,000 polling booths in the state. There is a lot of incumbency against the BRS and BJP governments and the Congress would sweep the next elections,” Uttam said.
Both the BJP and BRS have been misleading the people by using fancy names for various schemes. While BJP government is using the titles like 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India', the BRS government is taking the people for a ride by using names like 'Rythu Bandhu', 'Dalit Bandhu' and 'Kalyana Laxmi'.
“On the ground level, the welfare schemes did not reach a large number of eligible poor. Lakhs of farmers are still waiting for their crop loans of up to Rs. 1 lakh to be waived off as promised by CM KCR in 2018. The education of lakhs of students is in doldrums as the BRS government did not clear the fee reimbursement dues and scholarships. The corporate hospitals are not entertaining Aarogyasri cases,” alleged Uttam.
