ACB nabs sales tax clerk for accepting 20k bribe

Jamshedpur: Sleuths of the state’s anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested a sales tax clerk, Subodh Kumar Singh, for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 at his chamber in Bistupur on Tuesday.
The clerk was caught “red-handed” accepting the bribe from a Golmuri-based trader allegedly to settle a tax dispute in his favour, ACB officials said.
Earlier, the businessman approached the Jamshedpur division of the ACB with a complaint against the clerk. On finding the plaint to be true, the ACB sleuths laid a trap and accordingly smeared phenolphthalein powder on the currency notes and gave these to the businessman for the official. When the money changed hands, the ACB men caught the clerk. The clerk was made to dip his hands in a glass of water, which turned red, and he was nabbed.
