Ranchi: Ahead of the G-20 summit scheduled here on March 2, the district administration notified no-fly zone within 500 metre periphery of the two venues — Radisson Blu and BNR Chanakya — thereby banning drones, paragliding, and hot air balloons.
It also clamped prohibitory orders outside both the venues from 5am on Tuesday till 10pm on March 4, banning wanted assembly of people.
The administration issued the notification late on Monday night, officials said.
Ranchi will host G-20 summit meetings at the two venues on March 2. The visiting delegates will also stay here. On March 3, the delegates will visit Patratu Lake Resort.
“The curbs are part of security measures to ensure a hassle-free event. It’s a prestigious event and the administration does not want to take any chances,” said an official.
About 150-200 foreign delegates are expected here.
The roads from the airport to the two hotels have been decked up with welcome banners and posters. Lighting has been installed along the VIP Road (Harmu Road) that connects the airport with the hotels. The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) had undertaken massive anti-encroachment drive to pave way for hassle-free vehicular movement.
Meanwhile, Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth said, “The summit will put Ranchi on the global map as delegates from 20 countries will be visiting. I appeal to the people of this city to keep their surroundings clean, decorate their houses, and light diyas.”
