Man buys gun from goon after seeing his video, arrested
Nagpur: Purchasing a firearm from a city goon after seeing him flaunting a gun in a Youtube video has landed a 33-year-old civil contractor from Gadchiroli, Nikhil Sedmake, behind bars. Sedmake, a graduate, is from a well-to-do family and his wife is in government service.
Sedmake claims to have purchased the gun for fun and showing off. His misadventure ended on Monday when Pachpaoli police team under the supervision of Zonal DCP Gorakh Bhamre zeroed down upon him at Wadsa Desaiganj in the Maoist-affected district.
Despite having no earlier offences, Sedmake was made a co-accused in a case of preparation to commit dacoity by Pachpaoli police, for having purchased the firearm from gangster Ankit Walmik. The gun seller is a close aide of dreaded criminal Suraj Brahme, who had been externed. The Gadchiroli man had purchased the firearm for Rs50,000 just to show off.
Brahme, who has 22 offences against him, had been externed earlier too and also spent a year in jail after being arrested under Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act.
A police team of sub-inspector Vikas Manpiya, head constable Vijay Jadhav, Ankush Rathod, Ashish Bawankar, Ganesh Thakre, Vasudev Jaipurkar and others rounded up Bhrahme, Walmik and Aman Lonare under suspicious circumstances from Bellyshop Quarters area in Mecosabagh three days ago. Police recovered a firearm, four live cartridges, sharp weapons and chilli powder. The group was apprehended before they could commit a crime.
During interrogation of Brahme and Walmik, Sedmake's name cropped up. A team of Pachpaoli police left for Gadchiroli following instruction from senior inspector Vaibhav Jadhav.
Two more gangsters and a close aide of Brahme are still on the run.
Police said Brahme and the rest of the gang were sent to jail by the court.
