17-year-old thrashed, sexually assaulted by boys for revenge in Delhi's Jahangirpuri

NEW DELHI: A group of boys has allegedly thrashed a 17-year-old and sexually assaulted him in northwest Delhi's Jahangirpuri.
Police said a video of the incident showing the boy being lashed with a belt had gone viral.
The victim was seen pleading with the boys to stop while they kept thrashing and asking him to engage in sexual activities. One of the minors has been apprehended.
Police said the matter was reported to them on Monday and preliminary investigations revealed that the victim, who belongs to a different community, earlier thrashed one of the boys over a monetary issue. "The victim had thrashed him when he was alone. Later, on February 24, that boy, along with his friends, took the 17-year-old to a friend's house on some pretext, thrashed him brutally and also recorded it on a mobile phone. The victim claimed he was also sexually assaulted," said a police officer.
Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain law and order, but officers clarified that there was no communal angle to the incident. Police said a case under IPC Section 377 (unnatural sex) and under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences had been registered.
"The juveniles recorded the video to show other peers that they hold the supremacy in the area," the officer added. In the video, the boy was seen on the floor with at least three boys thrashing him, one of them with a belt. They then forced him to say that they were the boss of the area, while one accused told him to get into a sexual act with him.
