Man rapes woman in Gujarat's Godhra, circulates videos

VADODARA: A woman residing in Godhra has accused a man of raping her and circulating her objectionable videos on social media. The accused circulated the videos ahead of her wedding which led to the marriage being called off.
The rape survivor registered an offence with the Godhra B Division police station alleging that the accused had raped her and made a video of the act. She claimed that the accused then threatened to circulate the video and raped her on multiple occasions.
The woman’s family had found a groom for her and she was to get married on Sunday.
Police said that the woman used to work as a domestic help at the residence of the accused. The accused took advantage of this and allegedly raped her. The woman did not mention about the incident to anyone due to the threat by the accused.
Police inspector of the Investigative Unit for Crime Against Woman (IUCAW) R R Bansal said that the family came to know about the alleged rape when the wedding was called off by the groom’s family.
“The videos were circulated over social media by the accused. It was after this that the rape offence was registered,” he said.
Bansal said that medical tests on the woman were being conducted.
He added that the accused was yet to be arrested.
