Pakyong, 28 Feb: The height of creativity: Surendra Jain, a septuagenarian from the Uttar Pradesh region of Meerut, gave his love for making things out of matchsticks wings over a fifty-year span. Jain constantly took a break from his hectic work to come up with ideas for the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, has attracted him from childhood. Surendra even traveled to Paris in 2013 in an effort to realize his dream. He spent two days sitting at the tower’s base observing the miracle of architecture. In order to duplicate the tower’s complex elements in his miniature version, Surendra was carefully examining them. Ten years after seeing the original wonder, he was able to build a duplicate of the Eiffel Tower using 75,000 matchsticks. Surendra, who resides in the Partapur neighborhood of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, works as a trader. He operates these floor mills, which are used to crush wheat.
Surendra said to ETV Bharat, “My mum constantly told me to try something new while I was completing my education. The Eiffel Tower was always my favorite of the Seven Wonders. I visited Paris in 2013 to experience the technical marvel myself. I spent two days observing the tower to comprehend its architecture and design.”
Surendra overcame health challenges in 2019 and was totally committed to his objective. Due to his aging, his hands used to tremble when he was working. Surendra claims to have reduced the hand tremors by practicing yoga asanas. When discussing the project’s specifics, Surendra claimed that it was difficult.
To create the replica, 75,000 matchsticks were utilized in total. The model needed to be shielded from the wind and the dusty surroundings. It was a little difficult to use adhesives to guarantee precise binding between the matchsticks. The project execution took place in a separate room, he claimed. My duplicate is only five feet tall compared to the actual Eiffel Tower’s 1100 feet height. That was a laborious, drawn-out procedure. The most difficult part of the tower’s construction was building the base. It is possibly the country’s first model of its kind. Surendra stated, “I would also like to enter my achievement in the Asia Book of Records, Limca Book of Records, and India Book of Records.”
