Row over escort services behind firing in Bhankrota area, two arrested: Police
Jaipur: A day after two men were injured after being shot at by miscreants on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Bhankrota police station area, police on Monday arrested two men for the firing.
A dispute between two people running escort services in Jaipur has emerged as the prime reason behind the firing, said police.
In the firing, one Daya Ram, 30, sustained a bullet wound near his abdomen while a bullet grazed the elbow of Dharam Chand Choudhary, 31. “We have arrested two people, identified as Kamlesh Sharma alias Sonu Sharma and Ved Prakash, in this case. Investigations found that the duo had a dispute over escorts services in their area. They both wanted to have an upmanship in the area. This was the reason behind the firing,” said Vandita Rana, deputy commissioner of police (West). One pistol, cartridges, and an SUV were seized from the possession of the accused.
The firing took place shortly after 4:30am on Sunday when Sonu Sharma, 32, a native of Sainthal town of Dausa, was travelling in his SUV with his friends Bharat, 29, Ram and Choudhary.
“It was found that more than a dozen cases are pending at various police stations against Ved Prakash, who runs escort services in Rajasthan, Delhi, Mumbai and Dehradun. He is into online escorts services since 2017. Earlier Sonu Sharma used to work with him. They started having disputes over the division of areas after parting ways,” added Rana.
Prior to the firing on Saturday evening, both the groups had a confrontation, and Sonu was called to sort out the issue but did not turn up. “Both the accused had had a heated exchange of words over phone before the firing,” said a police official.
