The race to release the world's fastest charging speed tech keeps getting hotter. We saw the Redmi Note 12 featuring 210W fast charging in 2022 which was surpassed by the Realme GT Neo5 with 240W fast charging earlier this month. And now, Redmi is ready to take the crown once again with the announcement of the whopping 300W fast charging tech.

Redmi made the announcement by posting a demonstration video on Weibo. The video showed a modified Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition powered by a 4,100mAh battery. It is claimed to charge the phone 10% in 43 seconds and 50% in 2 minutes and 13 seconds. It is touted to charge the phone completely 100% in five minutes.

One important thing to note is that even though the company is marketing the tech at 300W, it can be seen reaching a maximum input of 290W for about three seconds. It was seen to be sustaining 280W input for about two minutes during the video. The charger is officially called 300W Immortal Second Charger.

If we talk about the modifications, Redmi opted for a 15C cells battery on the demonstration unit as compared to a 10C cells battery on the actual Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition smartphone. The company used 50 safety protection items for the Double GaN adapter.
