Two men shot and killed in separate incidents in Akron over the weekend
Two men were shot and killed in Akron over the weekend in unrelated incidents, according to the Akron Police Department and Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
A 31-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds was found inside a vehicle that was parked in front of a residence in the 700 block of Dunbar Drive in Downtown Akron, in the residential Channelwood Village area, around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was identified as William Hackney, 31, of Akron. His cause of death was gunshot wounds to the torso, and his manner of death was homicide.
According to police, a woman found her bullet-riddled vehicle in the parking lot with the man inside. Officers found shell casings and other evidence at the scene.
A 24-year-old man was shot while sitting in a vehicle parked in a driveway in the 700 block of Dayton Street in Akron's North Hill neighborhood around 12:10 a.m. Sunday. The man, who had a gunshot wound to the chest, was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital, where he died around 12:40 a.m.
The man was identified as Tha Soe, 24, of Akron. His cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, and his manner of death was homicide.
Police said that investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to both shootings. No arrests have been made in the shootings.
