HUBBALLI: The North-West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation managing director, S Bharat, visited a regional workshop where a fire accident had happened on Sunday night and instructed officials to take precautions on priority to prevent such incidents in bus depots, divisional workshops and bus stations of NWKRTC.
He said according to preliminary information, the fire started due to a short circuit.
“As it is summer, the fire spread to the dry grass, garbage, old rexin seat covers, sponge and other waste items on passenger seats of the bus. There was no loss of life or injury. Thanks to the quick action of the police and fire officials and staff of the organisation, a possible disaster was averted,” he said.
He instructed officials to calculate the financial loss from the accident and submit a report to the insurance company for reimbursement.
“As it is summer, the temperature is high and there are chances of fire accidents. Therefore, steps should be taken to regularly dispose of flammable material like grass, rexin, sponge and garbage in all bus depots, workshops, bus stands and other places,” he said.
