Anker launching an iceless cooler that can chill food for 42 hours

Anker might be best known for its lineup of solar panels and portable power stations, but the company is looking to broaden its horizons this March with the Anker EverFrost — an iceless cooler that can chill your food and drinks for a staggering 42 hours.

We’re still waiting on some important details regarding the EverFrost (such as pricing and its exact launch date), although we do know a Kickstarter campaign will go live on March 23. Anker is also teasing bits of info about the cooler ahead of its launch, and it’s shaping up to be an impressive device.

Featuring a 299 watt-hour detachable battery and rechargeable via solar panels, the EverFrost doesn’t need any ice to keep your food cold. Anker says the cooling system is so efficient in the EverFrost that you’ll be able to bring drinks from 77 degrees to 32 degrees Fahrenheit in just 30 minutes. That’s an impressive feat, and it’s one made all the more so by its lack of ice and how long it can keep items chilly.

The EverFrost will be available in three sizes (33L, 43L, and 53L), with the smallest size capable of holding 38 soda cans and the largest size able to hold 62 soda cans. Regardless of which size you pick, lugging the cooler around is made easy with a suitcase design that features durable wheels suited for a night off the grid. Better yet, its handle can double as a makeshift table so you don’t have to lug even more gear out into the mountains.

It doesn’t seem like the Anker EverFrost will integrate with Amazon Alexa or Google Home, although it does benefit from the Anker app, which grants remote control of its performance. Expect to learn more about the EverFrost lineup when it’s officially launched on March 23. You’ll also want to check out the EcoFlow Glacier, which was revealed during CES 2023 and fills a similar niche.

Blink, an Amazon-owned company that produces a wide variety of smart home gadgets, today announced the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera. The affordable device clocks in at just $99 yet manages to offer 1080p video capture, 2,600 lumens of LED lighting, motion detection, and several other premium features.

While Blink’s catalog is comprised of several indoor and outdoor cameras, this is the company’s first true floodlight. Previously, homeowners needed to purchase a Floodlight Mount for the Blink Outdoor Camera, and even then they would only benefit from 700 lumens of LED lights. The Blink Wired Floodlight Camera, meanwhile, is a standalone product that doesn’t require a secondary purchase -- pick it up for $99, and you’re ready for installation.

It has been quite a few years since Apple first launched the (now-defunct) HomePod, but the old smart speaker has been given a revival. The second generation HomePod retails for $299, and it offers some serious improvements over the original. Not only does it bring enhanced audio quality, but there are plenty of other upgrades that make it much better than its older sibling. Here’s a closer look at all the differences (and similarities) between the original HomePod and HomePod 2023.
Design

When compared side by side, you won’t notice many differences between the two HomePods. The new HomePod is about 200 grams lighter than the original model and is a couple of millimeters shorter, but overall the two are very similar. The touchpad on top of the HomePod 2023 is also a bit larger and now extends almost all the way to the edge of the device. Beyond those minor differences, they both sport an oblong design and come in multiple colors.

Apple finally activates HomePod Mini’s hidden temperature/humidity sensor

Apple recently revealed its second-gen HomePod, which is set to become the company’s flagship smart speaker in 2023. Featuring the S7 chipset, spatial audio, Matter compatibility, and tons of fancy room-sensing tech, the device is certain to be a hit when it launches in February. It’ll also feature a temperature and humidity sensor. Oddly enough, so does the existing HomePod Mini -- except Apple has only just activated the feature.

Apple has kept the temperature and humidity sensor deactivated for years, although now, with the launch of a new HomePod around the corner, the company has finally gone ahead and turned on the instrument in its existing Home Mini lineup. Once your HomePod Mini receives the update, you’ll be able to use it to track both the temperature and humidity in your home, then use that information to create various automations through Apple Home.
