Belagavi: Hundreds of activists of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) left for Mumbai on Monday.
The MES has called ‘Mumbai Chalo’ protest for an indefinite dharna in Mumbai from February 28 onwards. Some activists left by train, while others by road.
The organisation was engaged in preparations for the past one month to make the ‘Mumbai Chalo’ dharna successful. ‘Mumbai Chalo’ is to create awareness about the border dispute among the people of Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Before leaving for Maharashtra, the activists gathered at Hutatma Smarak in Hindalaga village and paid tributes to the martyrs who have died in the border dispute. Former MLA Manohar Kinekar, former mayor Shivaji Sunthakar and leaders of MES were present.
