A suspect barricaded inside a residence Monday was shot by an El Paso County deputy and the suspect was taken to a hospital.

Residents in the area of Easy Street and Kiva Road were ordered to shelter in place, according to a 2:49 p.m. Monday tweet by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.

The order was lifted after the armed suspect was shot and taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.

“This is a Deputy Involved Shooting case,” the sheriff’s office said in a 7:27 p.m. Monday tweet.

The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a hospital. No other injuries were reported and the police shooting is under investigation.
