The state unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday staged a demonstration outside the city headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, protesting against the arrest of the deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, in the case related to the Delhi liquor scam.

Speaking on the occasion, the Benaulim MLA of the Aam Aadmi Party Capt Venzy Viegas alleged that Delhi is firmly in AAP’s hold with no place for the BJP.

“At the 2020 assembly election in Delhi, the BJP was thrashed; then in 2023 at the Municipal Council of Delhi polls, it again got thrashed; and now for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP is clearly rattled,” he added, pointing out that therefore, the world’s best education minister Manish Sisodia is arrested in a false case to tarnish the image of the AAP through the “caged parrot” that is Central Bureau of Investigation, but the truth will prevail.

Capt Viegas further said that the youth of Goa are looking towards development of the education sector on the lines of Delhi.

AAP leader Valmiki Naik alleged that only AAP leaders are being arrested by the BJP government for gaining popularity among the masses. “Our leaders, be it Sisodia or Satyender Jain, are being targeted,” he reiterated, adding that the people of India know who Manish Sisodia is, and he has begun a revolution for India in the field of education.

The Aam Aadmi Party also lashed out at the BJP-led government over Sisodia’s arrest calling it “height of dictatorship”.

Sisodia was arrested after nearly eight hours of questioning on various aspects of the Excise Policy for 2021-22, in connection with the alleged corruption in the now-scrapped policy relating to the sale of alcohol.

The medical examination of Sisodia was done at the CBI headquarters on Monday, and he was presented before the Rouse Avenue Court.
