DUMKA: The court of the third additional district and session judge-cum-Pocso court of Deoghar on Saturday awarded capital punishment to three accused in connection with the gang rape and murder of a minor girl which took place in 2020. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 75,000 on each, which is to be paid to the family of the deceased.
According to the FIR lodged on April 10, 2020, the victim's father said his daughter was studying in Class 10. "She had gone out of home on a bicycle in the evening of April 8, 2020, for some housework but never returned," he said. All attempts made by the family members to trace her remained futile. Later, the girl's body was recovered from a forest along the Bhagwanpur-Ghormara road under the Mohanpur police station area two days after she went missing.
There were multiple injury marks on her body and face which were caused by indiscriminate stabbing to conceal her identity. The autopsy report suggested that she was gang-raped before being brutally murdered.

The three other accused, who got the death sentence were identified as Vishnu Yadav, Ritlal Yadav and Bhawesh Yadav, all hailing from villages under the Mohanpur police station area.
