Which adventure bike to step up from KTM 390 Adventure?

The Triumph Tiger 900 GT and the BMW F 850 GS are two closely matched contenders.

In the two years that I have owned my KTM 390 Adventure, I have clocked nearly 36,000 km on it, most of it being long tours across the country. I am now looking to step up to a large-capacity road-biased adventure touring bike. My priorities are cruise control, comfort over long riding days and a price that hovers around the Rs 13 lakh mark. Please suggest a good upgrade that fits my bill.

Autocar India says: You could look at the BMW F 900 XR, the BMW F 850 GS, the Triumph Tiger 900 GT or the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport for bikes that fit within that budget. The BMWs are very well priced and feature packed, but the XR isn’t as comfortable as some would expect from an ADV and the GS comes with a 21-inch front wheel, which you may not be interested in since you’re after a road biased solution.

That leaves the Triumphs and if you can make the stretch, we’d suggest the Tiger 900 GT for the extra performance and features it brings over the 850. The Tiger is a fast, comfortable and capable motorcycle. It’s a fantastic all-rounder and if you someday decide to do some off-roading it will be game to take that on as well.
