BENGALURU: An 18-year-old girl fell to her death from the terrace of an 11-floor apartment complex at Chalukya Circle on Sunday evening. Police suspect she took the plunge.
Cops identified the deceased as Prakruti A, a resident of Sanjaynagar and II PU student of a private college in east Bengaluru. According to police, she went to the terrace around 6.30pm and fell on a parked car before rolling on to the ground. She sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. The car was damaged.
High Grounds police rushed to the spot and found her body between two parked cars. They found no ID card or anything else at the spot except her broken mobile. Cops managed to access the mobile and call the contacts. Police managed to reach her father Aravind Kaushik, a software engineer, and mother Teju Kaushik. They arrived at the spot and identified the girl.
Police suspect she might have jumped to death. She arrived near Chalukya Circle in the evening. Initially, she tried to enter the premises of an apartment complex but was stopped by the security personnel. Later, she went to an adjacent apartment complex and entered it by informing the guard that she needed to visit her friend living on the fourth floor. She took a lift to reach the terrace. Police are waiting for statements from her parents to know the reason behind the extreme step.
