
Pune News Live Updates, February 28, 2023: The Pune city police Tuesday issued prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 in 200-metre radius of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Koregaon Park on March 2 in view of the counting of votes for the Kasba Peth Assembly byelection. The voting for the Kasba Peth and Chinchwad Assembly bypolls was held on February 26 and the counting of votes for both the seats is slated to be held on March 2.
The Pune Zilha Parishad flying squad detected mass cheating during the Class XII Board Examination at Kedgaon, Daund, and filed an FIR against those suspected of aiding and abetting cheating. The squad seized and handed over the cheating material to the police, and the exam centre in charge and eight teachers were booked under the Maharashtra Public University Act 2016. Despite the state government’s “Copy free exam campaign,” reports of mass cheating are still emerging from various areas of the state. The Pune Zilha Parishad has been working with the police and municipal corporations to enforce the campaign and provide study material and exam paper analysis to schools.
In another news, after holding a chain fast for a year against the River Front Development (RFD) project of the Mula-Mutha river in the city, social activists and civil society members decided to aggressively protest against the project to avoid environmental damage.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Sandeep Karnik issued the prohibitory order. Section 144 of the CrPC empowers public officials to issue orders in urgent cases to pre-empt any law and order situation. Construction materials fell from a 25th floor of an under-construction building ‘Lodha Bella Vita’ onto a nearby society Ganga Florentina driveway at NIBM Annex on Monday afternoon. Bajaj Finserv Ltd., as part of its corporate social responsibility distributed high-tech mobility devices to differently-abled in Pune on Tuesday. The initiative was launched at an event in Pune where 40 differently-abled persons identified by Round Table India were provided hi-tech mobility devices that convert a wheelchair into a roadworthy vehicle. The device is an indigenous innovation by NeoMotion, a start-up from R2D2 of IIT Madras. It comprises NeoFly, a compact, personalised wheelchair designed to best fit a user's health and lifestyle, and NeoBolt, a hi-tech motorised add-on that transitions it seamlessly into an outdoor mobility device.
The first recipients of the solution were largely individuals with quadriplegia, including ex-servicemen, para-athletes, and homemakers. Under the initiative, 200 hi-tech mobility solutions will be provided by Bajaj Finserv to recipients across India. Present at the event were Shefali Bajaj, Chairperson, CSR Steering Committee, Bajaj Finserv; Ajay Sathe, Group CSR Head, Bajaj Finserv; Tapan Singhel, MD & CEO, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, and senior officials of Round Table India and Neo Motion.
With voting percentages in the Chinchwad Assembly bypoll in Maharashtra indicating a higher turnout in areas dominated by BJP candidate Ashwini Jagtap and Independent Rahul Kalate, it has given both camps a reason to cheer. A fresh western disturbance ie rain causing winds from the Mediterranean region is to hit the north and northeastern part of the country in the next few days. While this is expected to bring some rain, Pune has no forecast for rain. The Delhi Police’s cyber cell arrested an animation artist from Pune for allegedly cheating multiple businessmen on the IndiaMart portal. Posing as a seller of puja items and idols at low market prices, the accused cheated wholesalers and retailers of Rs 1.5-Rs 1.7 lakh each, the police said.
A case under sections of cheating was registered and a team started analysing the transactions and chats between the accused and the victim. Click Here

Actor-singer Farhan Akhtar gave a soulful closing to the Vh1 Supersonic Festival 2023 here with his hit tracks "Solitary Childhood", "Pain or Pleasure" and fan-favourite "Rock On".
The three-day festival, which made a comeback after three years, was held at the Mahalaxmi Lawns here from Friday to Sunday.

An offence has been lodged against persons who allegedly posted and circulated an objectionable video of a popular woman stage artist in Maharashtra on social media accounts.
The woman, 26, lodged the First Information Report (FIR) in this case at the Vimantal police station in Pune on Sunday
The accused allegedly filmed the artist while she was changing clothes for a programme. The accused then allegedly posted this video on Instagram accounts and also circulated it on social media. They also allegedly threatened to circulate videos of the woman and her associates.
Assistant Police Inspector Shivdas Lahane is investigating the case.
A minor incident of fire was reported on the premises of the MIT Vishwashanti School in Loni Kalbhor on Sunday night. No casualties were reported.
Officials from the fire brigade of Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) said that around 9 pm on Sunday some old furniture stored at a location away from the buildings on the campus of the school caught fire around 9 pm. Fire tenders from Wagholi fire station were deployed and the fire was brought under control. No casualties were reported as no person was present near the affected area when the fire started.
