Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Monday's session.

NMDC Ltd(up 0.09%) stood among the top gainers.

Pokarna(down 7.39%), Madhav Marbles and Granites(down 5.25%), Lexus Granito(down 4.32%), Oriental Trimex(down 4.20%), KIOCL(down 3.65%), Ashapura Minechem(down 3.14%), Aro Granite Industries(down 1.85%), 20 Microns(down 1.68%), Orissa Minerals Development Company(down 1.13%) and Gujarat Mineral Dvpt Corporation(down 0.84%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 73.1 points down at 17392.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 175.58 points at 59288.35.

ICICI Bank(up 1.99%), Power Grid Corporation of India(up 1.93%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.69%), State Bank of India(up 1.28%), HDFC LIFE INSURANCE(up 1.21%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 0.91%), NTPC(up 0.82%), SBI Life(up 0.63%), HDFC(up 0.58%) and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(up 0.55%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Enterprises(down 9.28%), Bajaj Auto(down 5.46%), UPL Ltd(down 4.06%), Tata Steel(down 3.33%), Infosys(down 2.67%), Eicher Motors(down 2.33%), Tata Motors(down 2.29%), Tata Consultancy(down 2.02%), Divis Laboratories(down 1.94%) and Hero MotoCorp(down 1.94%) closed in the red.
