LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narenda Modi on Sunday called upon over 9,000 new appointees of UP Police to create a system in which 'criminals are scared, but law-abiding citizens are absolutely fearless'. "You have to be sensitive and also make the system sensitive," he said.
In a video message on the occasion of distribution of appointment letters to 9,055 sub-inspectors of civil police, platoon commanders PAC and fire brigade officers selected by Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board under Mission Rozgar, the PM said that Uttar Pradesh had undergone transformation in the past six years.
T here was a time when Uttar Pradesh was known for the mafia and poor law and order situation. Now, it is known for better law and order and faster development as the state government has ensured a sense of security among its citizens," he added. "Kashi had more tourist bookings than Goa during Christmas this year, thanks to the better law and order, infrastructure and facilities in the state developed in the past six years of the double engine Government. It was heartening to know this as an MP from Varanasi," he said. "UP has got a completely new identity.
It is the state with the maximum number of expressways and several airports. It has lakhs of MSME units which gives the state a strong base of small scale industries. UP also leads in the country in creating a startup ecosystem for new entrepreneurs. In the past six years, more than 1.5 lakh recruitments have taken place in the state police force alone. Better law and order in the state is also leading to creation of employment opportunities in diverse sectors,” PM Modi remarked. Modi said that ODOP, Mudra Yojana, setting up of freight and defence corridors are benefiting the state not on-ly in terms of growth, but also providing job opportunities to the youth on a massive scale.
The Prime Minister appealed to the new appointees to equip themselves with all the required skills, training and knowledge of technology to take on the new age criminals but appealed to be sensitive towards common citizens and help make the system sensitive too,” PM said. “When you don the police uniform, the government places a baton (`danda') in your hands but don't forget that the government came in later. Before this, God gave you a heart as well,” he told the recruits, asking them to listen to their heart as well. “You will have to be sensitive and make the system sensitive as well,” the prime minister said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the economy of UP has got a new momentum due to the combined power of security and employment. He said that this programme organized in Uttar Pradesh has brought a new gift to more than 9,000 families. Congratulating the selected candidates, PM Modi said that the new recruitments will empower the police force further in the state. He said that when the law and order situation is strong, the possibilities of employment increase manifold and investments start increasing. The Prime Minister said that Employment fairs are being organised frequently in BJP-ruled states giving jobs to scores of youths. “These talented youth are bringing new ideas to the government system.””
