PUNE: The Khadak police have registered cross-complaints after workers of the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including a former BJP corporator, clashed with each other in Ganj Peth late on Saturday night.
Senior inspector Sangeeta Yadav of the Khadak police said, "We have registered complaints of unlawful assembly and rioting against members of both the parties. Overall, we have registered two cases against more than 30 persons."
EC officials registered a case against BJP candidate Hemant Rasne for violating the code of conduct and visiting a polling station to cast his vote while wearing neckwear bearing his party symbol. The Faraskhana police registered a case against Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar for campaigning for the byelection in the last 48 hours.
"We have registered three different cases with Vishrambaug, Faraskhana and Samarth police stations and a further probe is on," said DCP (Zone I) Sandeep Singh Gill.
