ERODE: Erode municipal corporation officials involved in Erode East byelection work on Monday were irked when food for them was transported on a pickup van used for garbage collection.
An official told TOI that the corporation had arranged breakfast and lunch for the officials involved in byelection work. "The order for breakfast and lunch was given to a restaurant in the city," he said.
The corporation used a garbage collection vehicle to transport food from the restaurant in the morning and in the afternoon.
The officials involved in election work said the vehicle appeared clean though it was regularly used for garbage collection. They were irked as food for them was transported on this vehicle.
.
When contacted, corporation commissioner and returning officer R Sivakumar said he would look into this issue.
