The 20-year-old man was indicted Feb. 15 by a Jefferson County Grand Jury for felony theft.
Around 11:45 p.m. Nov. 27, 2022, Beaumont police were called to the 1100 block of Reynolds Road regarding a large 4-wheeler driving behind the Knights of Columbus auditorium, at 9505 College St. Police soon discovered a storage unit at nearby College RV & Boat Storage was broken into, according to the arrest affidavit.
A fence on the southeast corner of the building was cut, and a 2015 Can-Am Renegade ATV was missing, per the affidavit. The ATV’s owner told police that the vehicle was stolen.
Two days later, the ATV owner’s friend noticed the vehicle was being sold on the Facebook Marketplace for $7,500. They pretended to be interested in purchasing the vehicle, discovering it was at the defendant’s residence on the 3200 block of W. Euclid St., per the affidavit.
The ATV owner and police made their way to the residence and located the ATV in the backyard, according to the affidavit. The defendant denied knowing about the ATV, even though it was allegedly posted on his Facebook Marketplace account.
