THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sasikumaran Thampi, an accused in the titanium job fraud case, surrendered before the Cantonment police station in the state capital on Saturday.
Thampi was the HR manager (legal) at Travancore Titanium Products Limited (TTPL) and the fourth accused in the case registered for cheating candidates lakhs of rupees by offering jobs at TTPL. He absconded soon after the case was registered. All his anticipatory bail pleas were rejected by a court directing him to appear before the investigating officers.
Four persons, including Syamlal, the mastermind behind the crime, Divya Jyothi, who collected money from various candidates, and agents Anil and Abhilash, were already arrested in connection with the case.
Jyothi is the first accused in the nine cases registered by Cantonment police on the complaints of several candidates who were cheated by the accused. Syamlal is the fourth accused in the case. Kuriyathi resident Abhilash introduced two candidates to Jyothi. The candidates transferred lakhs of rupees to Jyothi's account, and Abhilash received a commission. The other accused are still absconding.
