UPPCL vigilance cell lodges FIR against PVVNL director (technical) on graft charges
The UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL)’s vigilance cell has lodged an FIR against Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited’s director (technical) Prithvipal Singh with Chitaiur police station on the charges of disproportionate expenses beyond his known source of income.
VARANASI: The UP Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL)’s vigilance cell has lodged an FIR against Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited’s director (technical) Prithvipal Singh with Chitaiur police station on the charges of disproportionate expenses beyond his known source of income.
Chitaipur SO Brijesh Mishra on Sunday said that on the complaint of inspector (vigilance) Gorakhpur zone Chandrabhushan Prajapati an FIR against Singh was lodged under section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on Saturday night.
The complaint stated that Prajapati was assigned the probe into assets of Singh in June 2022.
With the completion of the probe, Prajapati submitted his report to the vigilance unit headquarters at Shakti Bhawan in Lucknow on February 2 and it was forwarded to the chairman of UP Power Corporation limited on February 9.
This probe report contained, “Between June 1986 and June 2022 Singh had earned 4.62 crore while he spent Rs 5.60 crores in the same period. In this corresponding period, he spent Rs 97.79 lakh (21.13%) more than his actual income. The report stated that it established disproportionate expenses beyond his known source of income.
On getting this investigation report, PVVNL on February 22 took a decision to lodge an FIR against Singh under the appropriate section of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Singh is posted as director (technical) for almost two years.
Mishra sid that an investigation was initiated after filing the FIR to determine the origin of Singh's earnings amounting to Rs 97.79 lakh.
