JAIPUR: After Rajasthan police arrested Bhupendra Saran, the prime accused of paper leak case, the enforcement wing of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is gearing up to send property attachment notice against him.
Officials of the department stated that they want to attach the property of Saran after he failed to give the recovery amount the civic body had sought to demolish the illegal portions of his residence in Rajni Vihar in Hirapura.
“We are apprehending that Saran might move to court against us. So, we don’t want to give him any chance and would take steps in a calculated way. We had sought help from director law of JDA and are waiting for his instructions. Maybe in the coming week we would start our proceedings,” Raghuveer Saini, chief of JDA’s enforcement department, told TOI.
In December 2022, the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) cancelled the 2nd-grade teacher competitive examination 2022 of general knowledge as the paper was leaked and rescheduled the exam on January 29.
Following this, police started an investigation holding Bhupendra Saran as the prime suspect and kingpin of the paper leak racket.
On January 13, a team from the enforcement department of JDA reached his house and demolished the illegal structures of the building. The demolition work went on for two days.
As per the rules, if JDA demolishes any illegal structure it sends a recovery notice demanding the expenses incurred during the demolition job.
“We had slapped a recovery amount of Rs 19,11,356 against Saran. We had demolished two other buildings – coaching centres – in connection with this case. Although we have received the recovery amount from the owners of these two buildings, Saran is yet to pay up. So, we are left with no choice but to attach his property and recover the amount,” another JDA official said.
