CS asks cops to be extra alert as Holi festival draws closer
JAIPUR: Chief Secretary Usha Sharma on Saturday directed the collectors and SPs to be extra alert ahead of the festival of colours.
Reviewing the law and order situation at the secretariat, she asked the district administration and police to work in coordination and act with promptness to maintain peace. She directed the officials to clamp down on anti-social elements to ensure that communal incidents happening in other states is not repeated in Rajasthan.
Sharma said the police administration should be in constant contact with field personnel like patwaris, gram sevaks and tehsildars, which would help to deal with criminal elements at the grassroots level.
Raising the issue of glorification of criminals on social media, she said this growing menace must be nipped in the bud as it is having a toxic influence on the impressionable youth of the state.
She said legal action should be taken immediately after identifying social media handles and groups engaged in lionising criminals and gangsters. She instructed the SPs to keep special vigil in crowded places like railway stations and bus stands.
The chief secretary also instructed police officers to tackle cases of cow smuggling, fake notes, drugs and weapons by coordinating with the collectors and SPs.
“Smuggling should be checked in the districts along the international border. Underage children should be kept separate from children who are repeatedly involved in criminal activities by paying special attention to juvenile homes,” she added.
Asking police officers to be extra vigilant about incidents taking place in their areas, Sharma said no incident should be underestimates, and police should respond immediately to even incidents of small crimes.
