HYDERABAD: A security guard in Gandhi hospital was injured on Friday after a patient's attendants attacked him over an argument on gaining entry into the casualty ward.
The incident occurred at the gate of the ward, when security guard V Maheswar tried to stop several attendants of a patient from entering and sustained head injuries in the attack. While hospital authorities lodged a police complaint, officials said monitoring a huge number of attendants has become a
headache for hospital authorities.
"Every day, 5-6 incidents are taking place where the attendants are beating up the staff or security. While we are taking the help of police in such cases, monitoring of the situation and calling police is becoming strenuous," said Dr M Raja Rao, superintendent, Gandhi Hospital. Some times, the attendants are carrying banned substances such as gutka, beedi, cigarettes, adulterated toddy, an official said.
