3 cops face action after tainted DSP talks to media in Punjab & Haryana High Court

LUDHIANA: The police commissioner issued show-cause notices to two assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) and initiated a departmental inquiry against SHO, Sarabha Nagar for lapse on duty.
When the officials produced dismissed DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon and Pardeep Sharma, who claims to be a legal expert in the court on February 21, Sekhon gave sound bytes to mediapersons on the court premises.
They had been arrested on the orders of the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu confirmed the development.
He said, “It was definitely a lapse as the arrested accused was giving statements in media while being produced in court. Therefore, a department enquiry has been initiated against the SHO concerned and show cause-notices have been issued to two ACPs.”
Sekhon was arrested by Ludhiana police on February 20 on the orders of the court for contempt of court. Pardeep Sharma was arrested on February 21. When they were being produced in the court, Sekhon issued statements related to the case and on some other issue.
Sekhon and Sharma used inappropriate words for the judges following which the HC took suo motu notice.
