The direction by the state Government comes days after people blocked the Nuh-Alwar highway in Firozpur demanding actions against the accused in the kidnapping-murder case of two Muslim men from Bharatpur.

The police on Saturday booked over 500 people for blocking the highway, according to reports.

As per the reports, the order of internet and SMS services shut down comes as a bid to curtail the communal tensions growing in the area following the death of the Muslim men in Bhiwani.

Security has also been beefed up in the Nuh district where the people blocked the roads and demonstrated to get justice for the 2 Muslim men whose bodies were found in a charred state in Haryana’s Bhiwani, said reports.

The statement read that the Haryana Government has issued a short-term suspension of mobile internet services including 2G,3G,4G, CDMA, and GPRS. The statement further said that bulk SMS except for banking and mobile recharge will be shut.

The statement also said that all the mobile networks, except for voice calling services, have been snapped in the Nuh district with immediate effect. The reason for the snapping of services was attributed to the potential cause for communal tension and disturbance of public peace.

As per the reports, after the road blockade protest on the Nuh-Alwar highway, more calls were made to demonstrate against the death of 2 Muslim men by cow vigilantes.

Death of 2 Muslim men

As per the reports, Nasir and Junaid, residents of Ghatmeeka village of Rajasthan, were reportedly kidnapped by cow vigilantes on February 15 after which the bodies of the two Muslim men were found in a charred state in Loharu located in Haryana’s Bhiwani on February 16.
