MUMBAI: After wresting the Shiv Sena name and its bow and arrow symbol, chief minister Eknath Shinde iterated on Saturday that his party was not interested in taking over the Shiv Sena's (UBT) funds or property. "We will not lay claim to their funds or property. We are only interested in Balasaheb Thackeray's thoughts and ideology. Shinde is a giver, not a taker," he told a TV channel.
Shinde had made a similar statement at the first national executive of his party after it was officially recognised as the Shiv Sena by the Election Commission earlier this week.
"We have freed the party's name and symbol. It had been pawned," Shinde said. On whether he would be a chief ministerial candidate in 2024, he said, "It depends on the will of the people."
He also said he preferred to respond to allegations of the Shiv Sena (UBT) through his work. -
