KANPUR:In a rerun of Delhi's Kanjhawala case, a six-year-old boy riding a two-wheeler, was killed after he got stuck in a dumper-truck that hit the scooty he was riding and being driven by his grand-father on Kabrai road in Mahoba district on Saturday.
Boy's grandfather was also killed in the accident. A video of the accident has also gone viral on Social media.
In the video, sparking from the truck is visible due to the scooty getting stuck and some people coming parallel to the truck on motorcycles are indicating it's driver to stop.
The police have arrested the driver and impounded the dumper-truck.
The incident occurred on the Kabrai road on the Kanpur-Sagar Highway National Highway -86.
Police said that one Udit Narayan Chansauria, 70, a retired teacher and a resident Hamirpur Chungi of Naikana ward, and his grandson Satvik were heading to a nearby market when their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding dumper truck. While Udit died on the spot, Satvik and the two-wheeler got stuck in the moving dumper truck and were dragged for nearly two kilometres.
The incident occurred on the Kanpur-Sagar NH -86, the police said.
On coming to know about the accident, senior officials including superintendent of police, sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), and Circle Officer (CO) City reached the spot.
The injured were rushed to the district hospital, where the doctors declared both elderly man and his grandson dead. Eyewitnesses said that after the accident, the locals riding two-wheelers tried hard to stop the truck, but in order to escape, the driver accelerated and kept dragging the two-wheeler stuck in the truck. "Few locals even hurled bricks and stones following which the driver stopped the truck near Kidari gate, but by then the minor boy succumbed," they said.
SDM Sadar Jitendra Kumar, CO City Rampravesh Rai along with City Kotwali police reached the spot and initiated investigations. The man and his grandson were immediately taken to District Hospital by the police, however, the doctors in the Emergency ward declared them dead. Later, the police sent the dead bodies for postmortem.
SP Mahoba Aparna Gupta said that Udit Narayan along with his grandson had left the house for the nearby market place riding a two-wheeler, when their scooty was hit by a dumper-truck on Saturday evening.
"We have arrested the driver, besides impounding the dumper-truck. As the accident was horrific, we have increased an IPC section of 304 in the FIR. Further investigations are on," said SP further.
