Ethan, Mandar lead with 2 points

AIM Ethan Vaz, Mandar Lad, Dimitry, and other 85 players are leading with 2 points from the first two rounds in the Kings of 64 Squares all Goa open rapid chess tournament sponsored by Doorbell Film Production and organized by MTCA under the aegis of Goa Chess Adhoc Committee commenced today at the Regina Mundi School Hall, Chicalim, on Saturday.

The tournament saw a participation record of 284 players from all over Goa, including 73 rated players. The opening ceremony of the tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Manish Khushe, who made the first move while playing with top seed Ethan Vaz.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Manish Khushe briefed the participants on healthcare and applauded the efforts of the sponsors and MTCA for organizing the event for the benefit of students. The sponsors have organized a free medical camp for the benefit of players and the public.

The tournament will be played in nine rounds under the Swiss league system, and the fourth round will be played today. The opening ceremony was attended by Sudesh Shet, CEO, and Laxman Gunaji, MD, Doorbell Film Production.
