After playing three times during the regular season, the West Brook and Beaumont United boys basketball teams will meet once more this season with much higher stakes.
The Bruins and Timberwolves both won Friday night in second-round playoff games, setting up an all-Beaumont Class 6A regional quarterfinal between the teams next week.
West Brook was the first to advance Friday night, beating Clear Springs, 47-40. Roughly 20 minutes later, Beaumont United defeated Dickinson, 87-63.
Beaumont United (32-1) easily won each of the previous three meetings against West Brook. The first was in early-season tournament play, a 75-47 victory. United then won the first district meeting in mid-January, 69-49, followed by a 70-53 win by the the Timberwolves in early February.
The regional quarterfinal game between West Brook and Beaumont United is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Montagne Center on Lamar University's campus.
