14,000 mothers of Sikkim to receive Rs 20,000 annually under “Aama Scheme’ on 3rd March 2023

Pakyong, 25 Feb : On March 3, 2023, the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), will be presenting financial support to 14,000 mothers in the state who are deprived of basic necessities, face social stigma, and are unemployed. This presentation will mark the conclusion of the month-long “Government at Door Step” mission.

The event will be held in Rangpo, which is located in the Pakyong District. The 14,000 mothers who will be attending the event will receive Rs 20,000 (Twenty Thousand) per annum as financial support under the “Aama Scheme” (Sikkim Mother Empowerment Scheme). This scheme is an initiative of the Chief Minister under the Social Welfare Department.

The beneficiaries of the scheme are selected based on various criteria, also which includes not having any family members employed in the government sector. According to a press release from the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) Party, 14,000 mothers are already benefiting from the scheme, and more mothers will be included in the future. The Chief Minister has also stated that the amount of financial support will be increased.
